7 Best Moveworks Alternatives for HR Teams in 2026
By Yuri Kruman · Updated October 21, 2026 · 13 min read · Prices checked October 21, 2026
Moveworks is one of the strongest employee AI assistants on the market, and since ServiceNow closed its acquisition in December 2025 it is increasingly sold as part of the ServiceNow platform. It is also built for enterprises: its own marketplace listing starts at a 1,000-employee band, contracts are quote-only and rollouts take months.
If you run HR for 50 to 500 people and mainly need employees to get accurate, cited answers about your own policies, here are seven alternatives with prices checked this week and an honest view of where each one wins.

1. AI HR Pilot
Best for: HR directors and people-ops leads at companies with 50 to 500 employees who want employees to get fast, accurate answers from the company's own policies, with sensitive questions routed to a human.
Moveworks is an enterprise-wide assistant for IT, HR, finance and facilities. AI HR Pilot does one job: it answers employee HR questions from your own handbook and policies, cites the policy it used and hands anything sensitive or uncertain to your HR team.
It was designed by a three-time Chief HR Officer, so the defaults reflect how HR actually works: harassment and discrimination questions are flagged, not answered by a bot, and low-confidence answers escalate instead of guessing. You upload your policies, set your escalation rules and can be live the same day.
- ✓ Answers grounded in your uploaded handbook and policies, with the source cited
- ✓ Confidence scoring: low-confidence answers escalate to a human automatically
- ✓ Guardrails that flag harassment, discrimination and other legally sensitive topics
- ✓ FMLA and ADA compliance flags (Professional and Enterprise)
- ✓ Triage and routing to the right HR owner, with case management on Professional
- ✓ Audit trail and analytics on what employees ask and what gets escalated
- ✓ Per-organization data isolation; your data is never used to train AI models
- ✓ Web widget today; Slack and Teams are on the roadmap
Pricing: Starter $99/month (up to 100 employees, 10 policy documents, web widget). Professional $349/month (up to 500 employees, 50 documents, team roles, case management, FMLA and ADA flags). Enterprise $999/month (unlimited employees, quarterly policy review with a 3x CHRO). Every plan has a 7-day free trial with no credit card.
What it costs at your size
The Moveworks figure comes from Moveworks' own AWS Marketplace listing ($150 per user per year in a 1,000 to 2,500 user band) and excludes implementation, which third-party data puts at $50,000 to $200,000. AI HR Pilot figures are our published list prices.
AI HR Pilot is newly launched, so we do not show testimonials we cannot back up. Founding customers get a direct line to the founder, locked launch pricing and a double vote on the roadmap, starting with Slack and Teams.

- An HR-only tool your HR team owns and configures, with no IT project
- Defaults designed by a CHRO for sensitive topics and escalation
- A free trial on your real handbook before you commit
What you give up

The other Moveworks alternatives, reviewed
2. Your HRIS's built-in AI (Ask BambooHR, Rippling AI, Gusto's Gus)
Best for: Companies whose questions are mostly about their own pay, PTO balances and benefits data.
If you already run BambooHR, Rippling or Gusto, you may have an AI assistant included. Ask BambooHR answers questions about HR data on Core and Pro, and answers from your uploaded company documents only on Pro. Rippling AI answers pay, benefits and policy questions and lets admins upload documents. Gusto's Gus draws on Gusto's own help center.
Pricing: Included with qualifying plans of each HRIS; no separate fee reported for Ask BambooHR.
- No new vendor to buy or secure
- Already knows each employee's PTO, pay and benefits
- Permission-aware answers with links to source records
- Handbook answers are secondary or plan-gated (BambooHR Pro only)
- Limited escalation and case management
- Locked to that HRIS
Choose it over AI HR Pilot if: most questions are "what is my balance" or "where is my pay stub," your handbook is short and you are on BambooHR Pro or Rippling.
3. Workativ
Best for: Mid-size companies that want one support bot for IT and HR inside Slack or Microsoft Teams.
A no-code AI agent platform for internal IT and HR support that runs in Slack and Teams and can take actions in connected apps, not just answer. Its Business plan costs the same as AI HR Pilot Professional, but it is priced by chat session rather than by employee.
Pricing: Business plan $349/month for 500 AI chat sessions (third-party sources; Workativ's own pricing page did not load for us). When sessions run out the bot stops answering until the next period. Enterprise is custom.
- Runs inside Slack and Teams today
- Lists SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA on its security page
- Can act in connected apps, such as resetting passwords
- Session caps make cost hard to forecast and can cut service mid-month
- General IT and HR platform; we found no HR compliance-specific flags
- Small independent review base
Choose it over AI HR Pilot if: you need Slack or Teams today, want IT and HR in one bot or your security review requires a SOC 2 report.
4. Microsoft Copilot with the Employee Self-Service agent
Best for: Organizations already standardized on Microsoft 365 with a Power Platform admin.
Microsoft's Employee Self-Service agent, built on Copilot Studio, ships with HR and IT starter templates. The HR starter answers policy and benefits questions and escalates sensitive issues. You configure, curate and govern it yourself.
Pricing: Users need a Copilot license: $30/user/month for Microsoft 365 Copilot, or $21/user/month for Copilot Business (up to 300 users). Copilot Studio credits are extra ($200/month per 25,000 credits). At 200 employees, licensing everyone runs roughly $50,000 to $72,000 a year.
- Lives inside Teams and Microsoft 365
- Microsoft's enterprise compliance posture
- Logged interactions and configurable human handoff
- Setup needs global, Power Platform, maker and security admin roles
- Expensive if you license every employee only for HR questions
- Content curation and guardrails are on you
Choose it over AI HR Pilot if: you already license Copilot company-wide, have a Power Platform admin and want IT and HR in Teams.
5. Zendesk Employee Service
Best for: HR teams that need a full ticketing desk with SLAs, macros and many human agents.
Zendesk's employee-service edition gives HR and IT a help center, ticketing and AI agents. It is a service desk first, so your team builds and maintains the knowledge base and AI flows.
Pricing: Published per agent per month, billed annually: Suite Team $29, Growth $59, Professional $99. Each includes a small number of automated resolutions; extra AI resolutions cost $2.00 each. Copilot add-on $50 per agent per month. 14-day trial.
- Mature case management and knowledge base
- Email, Slack and Teams channels
- Transparent published pricing
- You build and maintain the HR content and AI flows
- Per-resolution fees add variable cost
- No HR-specific compliance features found
Choose it over AI HR Pilot if: your HR team already runs Zendesk or needs a full ticketing operation more than an answer engine.
6. Leena AI
Best for: Enterprises with 1,000+ employees that want HR-first AI with transactions in Workday or SAP.
Agentic AI for HR, IT and finance with 200+ connectors and HR heritage in onboarding and offboarding. It covers more channels than anyone else in this list.
Pricing: Quote-only. Every published marketplace configuration we found starts at 1,000 users; one third-party report cites $150 per user per year on Microsoft Marketplace.
- HR-first, with onboarding and offboarding agents
- Teams, Slack, Zoom, email, SMS, WhatsApp, voice and kiosks
- SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA listed
- 1,000-user minimum
- No public pricing
- Customization takes time, per reviewers
Choose it over AI HR Pilot if: you have 1,000+ employees, need WhatsApp or kiosk access or need HR transactions written back to Workday or SAP.
7. ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (with EmployeeWorks)
Best for: Companies already running ServiceNow for IT, usually 1,000+ employees.
ServiceNow's HR case management and employee center. Since the acquisition, its HR Foundation, Advanced and Prime packages list Moveworks for HR, and in February 2026 ServiceNow launched EmployeeWorks, powered by Moveworks. In practice this is the same technology, bought through ServiceNow.
Pricing: Quote-only. A licensing advisory firm reports negotiated rates of about $4 to $9 per employee per month, with AI add-ons about 30% on top (third-party estimate).
- Best-in-class HR case management and employee journeys
- Moveworks' conversational layer included
- One platform with IT if you already run ServiceNow
- Requires the ServiceNow platform and admin skills
- Long implementations
- Enterprise-negotiated pricing
Choose it over AI HR Pilot if: you already run ServiceNow ITSM and need full HR case management across countries.
How we evaluated these tools
We compared each tool on what an HR leader at a 50 to 500 person company needs: published price and how it scales with headcount, time to go live, whether answers come from your own policies with citations, handling of sensitive topics, channels, security attestations and who has to configure it. Facts come from vendor pages and marketplace listings where available. Where vendors do not publish prices we used third-party data (Vendr, licensing advisors, competitor research) and labeled it as an estimate. We did not accept payment from any vendor.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Moveworks cost?
Moveworks does not publish pricing. Its own AWS Marketplace listing prices a 1,000 to 2,500 user band at $150 per user per year, which is $150,000 to $375,000 a year before services. Third-party data from Vendr puts the median contract around $130,000 a year, with implementation services estimated at $50,000 to $200,000 on top.
Is Moveworks still sold separately after ServiceNow bought it?
Yes. ServiceNow completed the $2.85 billion acquisition on December 15, 2025 and in February 2026 launched EmployeeWorks, powered by Moveworks. ServiceNow says Moveworks continues to be sold as a standalone product, and its HR Service Delivery packages now include Moveworks for HR.
What is the best Moveworks alternative for a small or mid-size company?
For HR teams at 50 to 500 employees whose main need is accurate answers from their own policies, AI HR Pilot is built for that size and starts at $99 a month. If you need one bot for IT and HR inside Slack or Teams today, look at Workativ. If you already license Microsoft Copilot company-wide, the Employee Self-Service agent may be the cheapest add-on.
Does AI HR Pilot work in Slack or Microsoft Teams?
Not yet. AI HR Pilot runs as a web widget today, and Slack and Teams are next on the roadmap, prioritized by founding customers. Moveworks, Workativ, Leena AI, Zendesk and Microsoft all support Slack or Teams today.
Does AI HR Pilot have SOC 2?
Not of its own yet. Authentication runs on Clerk, which is SOC 2 Type II certified, data is encrypted in transit and at rest through our infrastructure providers and each organization's data is isolated. If your security review requires a vendor SOC 2 report, Moveworks, Leena AI, Workativ and Rezolve.ai list one.
How do I stop an HR chatbot from giving wrong policy answers?
Choose a tool that answers only from your own documents, cites the policy it used and escalates when it is unsure or the topic is sensitive. This matters legally: in February 2024 a Canadian tribunal held Air Canada responsible for its chatbot's wrong answer about a refund policy. AI HR Pilot scores confidence on every answer and routes low-confidence and sensitive questions to a human.
Can my HRIS's built-in AI do this already?
Partly. Ask BambooHR answers from your uploaded company documents only on the Pro plan, Rippling AI lets admins upload documents and Gusto's Gus draws mainly on Gusto's help center. They are strongest on employee data such as PTO and pay, and lighter on escalation, case management and compliance flags.
How long does it take to implement an AI HR assistant?
G2 lists about three months for Moveworks, Leena AI advertises 45 days, Rezolve.ai says four to six weeks and multi-department ServiceNow rollouts often take six months or more. AI HR Pilot is self-serve: most teams upload their handbook and are live the same day, with a seven-day free trial.
